Does your work include aspects of multilingual and open science? Have you been affected by the current policy and funding paradigm in the United States? Please note that you do not need to be based in the US or have directly received funding from a US institution to have been affected by the current policies. The core contributors at Translate Science are seeking folks who can shed light on the challenges and opportunities of our current situation so that we can all better understand how to orient our efforts towards a more just scientific enterprise. If you know of others who may be interested please share this post with them
Translate Science is an all-volunteer community of interest for multilingual open science. We strive to use open tools to create spaces where people can build relationships with others who want more interaction with science in languages other than English, thus making multilingualism a key in working towards the redistribution of power within the scientific community.
We are hoping to organise a panel discussion in October 2025 around the question: “How has your multilingual open science been affected by US Federal policy shifts?”. In our previous discussions we heard from researchers engaged in scientific translation work and those whose careers have straddled language barrier(s). If you want to speak or have other thoughts to share with us please send a message to info@translatescience.org.
Best,
